At the core of the system is a single-beam sonar transceiver designed for air-based applications, making it ideal for laboratory environments. The sonar operates by emitting ultrasonic pulses through a transducer and capturing the reflected signals from objects within the beam's path. These objects can be stationary (such as walls or fixtures) or moving (like vehicles or people), allowing the system to perform precise distance measurements and detect motion.
The Sonar Extension Module supports real-time digital signal processing (DSP) to analyze the reflected signals, with data visualization provided by the SkyRadar FreeScopes software. The system is capable of detecting objects at ranges of 15 meters and more, making it suitable for a variety of educational and research applications. The standard configuration includes an advanced signal processor and a directive antenna to enhance measurement accuracy and reliability.
SkyRadar's base unit is a close range training and research radar for indoor and outdoor experiments, designed for ATC and military training centers as well as for universities as tool for research and education.
Like the NextGen Pulse Radar, the Sonar extension is operated by the FreeScopes Set of algorithms.
The data can be visualized through included virtual instruments:
The Control Center reads out magnitude data, from SkyRadar's Sonar Module.
It includes several controls such as
The users are enabled to independently run experiments on their computers.
With its high-resolution sampler, FreeScopes enables detailed analysis of magnitude data using a wide range of advanced algorithms and filters
