In this video, SkyRadar presents the new Analog and Digital Communication Lab, allowing to model SUR, NAV and COM applications around a DSP and a transmitter and receiver unit.
Digital Signal Processing Unit
The laboratory is built around a real time hardware interface for digital signal processing with a USB link to a PC based DSP-handling and design software. It includes :
- Signal Generators - sine wave, square wave, triangle wavePseudo-random number (PN code), gold code
- Signal Encoders/Decoders - Unipolar & bipolar NRZIRZ, AMI, Manchester
- Modulation / Demodulation - Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM), Pulse-Time Modulation (PTM), Pulse-Code Modulation (PCM), Delta Modulation (OM), Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM), Amplitude-Shift Keying (ASK), Frequency-Shift Keying (FSK), Phase-Shift Keying (PSK), Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM), PLL
HF Software Defined Radio modules
The solution works with a pair of SDR-based transmitters and receivers.
The transmission and receiver modules are SDR 27 MHz IQ modulators. The receiver module has a sensitivity of -90 dbm. The IQ demodulation in the DSP is accomplished with the PC-based software.
Possible modulations (transmitter) / demodulations (receiver) are:
- Analog: AM – FM
- Digital: ASK, FSK, QAM
Blends directly into the SkyRadar Radar and SMC Laboratory
The laboratory interfaces directly with the the SkyRack training infrastructure for service and maintenance. This allows to implement many SUR, COM, NAV and SMC exercises as required by the EASA Easy Access Rules for ATM, as well as the ICAO DOC 10057.
